Chris, You have mutually exclusive goals. If you don’t want to break your wallet, then you certainly should NOT install a “geothermal” system that is, a ground-source heat pump. What’s it going to cost you? If you buy a more affordable heating system, you can take all of the money you saved and invest it in air-sealing work, more insulation, or better windows. You’ll end up with a tighter house that uses much less energy. If you want the most energy-efficient water heating system — and I presume you mean, one that uses as little purchased energy as possible — you should probably install a solar hot water system. But they aren’t cheap. If you don’t want to break your wallet, drive down to Home Depot and get a gas water heater. Wrap it with insulation. And install low-flow fixtures so you use as little hot water as possible.

By Leah The worst kind of repair is the preventable kind. Be very thorough when winterizing your RV. There really is no need to put anti-freeze in the hot water heater, fresh water holding tank, grey and black water tanks, as they are drained, and large enough to expand and contract without any damage occurring. The water lines in an RV are usually very thin and have little room to expand.
They need RV anti-freeze.
1. Set the propane tank on a low, flat platform made of bricks or cinder blocks, so that it is stable and level. The propane tank needs to be at least 10 feet from the water heater.

Boat Plumbing By Don Casey Boat plumbing is a lot easier for the do-it yourselfer than plumbing at home, mainly because it doesn’t involve rigid pipes running inside solid walls. In fact, pipes are rarely used at all on boats, replaced by easier-to-handle flexible hose or tubing. Here is an overview of a typical on-board water system.
Tanks Because water is heavy, tanks should be mounted low in the boat. Where space is available, it is a relatively simple matter to add extra tanks. Rigid polyethylene tanks are available in hundreds of shapes and sizes, or you might use a flexible bladder tank–essentially a water bag. Threaded hose barbs allow for hose connections. The inlet is connected to an on-deck fill.

Not Enough Hot Water or Water Too Hot Two of the most common problems with hot water heaters are that they produce water that is either not hot enough or too hot. Before you do anything else, adjust the temperature dial on the front of the water heater. Wait a little while, then check the water temperature at a faucet.
Before connecting the PEX pipe to the water heater, find a suitable metal connector to install onto the water heater. A copper stub-out elbow and a copper pipe will do. Connect one end of the stub-out elbow to the water heater by soldering the fitting.
I have used shark bite products before with the same result. The Sharkbites solved that problem big time. They were so simple to install and I had expected leaks from the push to connect end but following instructions to make sure the end of the pipe is square and clean I was pleasantly surprised that there were no leaks! The simplicity of the hose is amazing. Yes, it’s a bit pricey but makes the job so much easier. I also used the Sharkbites to plumb in a whole house filter.
Once again, another leak free installation. Absolutely no leaking, extremely tight fit, flexible. Had this installed for 3 weeks on my newly installed water softener. Wish they sold them in even longer lengths. Takes lots of effort to remove. But, hopefully, you will not have to remove them. The small U shaped tool used for removal takes some effort to push the hose loose so you need to have room for leverage. But overall, the push to fit hose is an extremely great product.

The TPR valve is attached to a discharge pipe that aims the overflow at the floor or ground where your hot water heater is positioned. If the TPR valve were to malfunction, pressure inside the tank could cause the tank to explode, causing terrible damage to your home. You can see what would happen here: If the TPR valve starts to overflow and develops a constant drip, this is a sign that your overflow valve is malfunctioning. This can happen if a valve has weakened with age. It can also happen when deposits of minerals build up inside of the valve.
A hot water heater is a vital appliance for your home, as it provides the hot water necessary for bathing, cleaning and washing clothes. As water heaters age, they become less energy efficient and.

Would you like to merge this question into it? MERGE already exists as an alternate of this question. Would you like to make it the primary and merge this question into it? MERGE exists and is an alternate of. Make sure you have a cold shut off on your cold water line before you hook up to the water heater and in some states they require a expansion tank. One good rule of thumb is if you have a check valve somewhere around your water meter or if on a well by your pressure tank then its a good idea to put a expansion tank.
It’s getting in there from the cold-water feed. If your house is supplied by old iron pipes, that could be the source. Or if your house is suppli…ed by its own well water, the depth of your well may be inadequate and you’re picking up water with high iron content. If you have municipal water, maintenance workers might have disturbed the lines upstream and loosed some debris and sediment that wound up in your tank. When you experience a problem, ask your neighbors whether they’re also having trouble.
I also check the pressure relief valve at that time.

Is it a fairly easy job? Thanks in advance Reply: There are just too many variables in any plumbing installation to give a number for plumbing work when we have not a shred of information about the job. I’m not even sure what you mean by “hot water feeder” nor what is involved: Just look at the water heater installed in our photo at left: You might as well as me how long will it take me to drive to Christchurch.
The RV water heater has a water line at the bottom where the cold water goes in. On top of that line, there is a hot water line that feeds your pipes. If there is a middle pipe that connects these two lines, congratulations, you have just located the RV’s bypass valve.
There isn’t a good response for this on the internet all in one place – so here it is. It is fine to use PVC on your cold water inlet to the hot water heater. PVC begins to leach vinyl chloride at temperatures nearing degrees. After degrees, the leaching speeds up and the pipe fails, sometimes due to unsupported pipes bending and separating in the high heat.
Most hot water heaters are right around that temperature degrees. The vinyl chloride originally keeps the pipes soft and bendable, but also reacts with heat. This is how the pipe material is made, heated up and then formed in tubing machines. It is a double-edged sword, as a pipe that holds up initially does not soften too much can still over time leach the plasticizer vinyl chloride into the water as it passes through the pipe at temps over 73 degrees.
Normal cold water temperature is 73 degrees Fahrenheit. As the temperature goes above 73 degrees the PSI the pipe withstands is ‘de-factored’ or reduced by a percentage per number of degrees raised.
